Guys, this is my very first review of a product that I have personally used, and I will be 100% honest!

So far, I’ve been attempting to educate you guys about some of the most basic and relevant skincare facts. However, the approach I have to admit is very different from reviewing a product that you have personally used and experienced. So, bear with me guys 😀

Here is where we get personal and I will tell you what I think about the product, its benefits, and most importantly, whether it is worth your money. Trust me, it is going to be worth reading it through!

In this post, I’m going to review the CeraVe foam hydrating cleanser, as mentioned in the title.

I’ll do my best to be as straightforward as possible 😉

How it all started:

Cerave Hydrating Cream Foam to Cleanser product review

As I explained in my bio, which you can find here here, my skin started breaking out pretty badly right during the pandemic. I wasn’t well informed about skincare when this happened. Therefore, after looking at my skin one day, I decided that I needed to get serious about taking care of my skin.

Unfortunately, I started in the wrong direction and was using the organic scrub twice a day (basically exfoliating the skin) instead of washing it. It’s almost impossible to believe I’m typing this! Keep in mind that I believed that just because it was organic, my skin wouldn’t react. Oh boy, was I wrong! That was the beginning of a nightmare for my skin!

*See the pictures below:

In essence, my skin broke down so badly that I was ashamed to go out and do the things I usually do daily.

The main problem at that time was that I had no idea what cleanser would work best for my dry and sensitive skin.

It was then that I decided to consult a skin expert about my problem because enough had been enough. I explained my problem to them, and they recommended the Sk:n cleanser (which by the way, was the first cleanser I’ve ever used on my face).

Oddly enough, it made my skin worse, and I even developed more blackheads, something I had never experienced before.

In my personal experience, this is a product that I don’t think I would recommended to you.

As a result of my disappointment, I went back to them and informed them that the product they recommended did not work at all. I was then advised to use the Medik8 cleanser, but even after weeks of use, it didn’t work! The experience devastated me, and I stopped consulting with them for a while.

*Note this is not to say that you shouldn’t consult an expert. I’m just speaking from experience, and I would recommend them. They are the best people to ask for advice*

My mum suggested I use traditional African black soap, which was good for my dry skin but using it every day dried my skin even worse. Therefore, I only had to use it twice a week.

Even though I knew that would not be enough to clean my face and remove all the dirt, I still used it twice a week and washed my face every other day with water.

Looking at my dry skin every day was so painful. I remember I used to cry every day!

If you can relate, or even slightly about my story, I know just how you feel. And if you are in your 20s struggling with dry sensitive skin, and do not know exactly what to do, I’ve compiled a quick guide to taking care of your skin here. It will give you a general overview of how to take care of your skin and how to avoid common mistakes.

How I was introduced to the product 🙂

After being disappointed, I researched my skin condition and although I couldn’t find many details about it, I did learn some essentials of skincare, and everything changed for the better. It was also when my sister who has sensitive skin, introduced me to this cleanser. She told me that she liked it and that I should have given it a try.

The product was truly a game changer and I thank her every single day (in silence lol). 😀 Cerave Hydrating Cream Foam to Cleanser

It was also at that time that I learned about CeraVe’s hydrating cleanser. This cleanser I would use it if I didn’t have makeup on since it wasn’t as effective at washing it off. I will leave a review soon so stay tuned!

However, before I begin digging into details about the product, I should point out that it is not for everyone.

Who is this product for?

If you like foaming cleansers but find that they make your skin feel tight afterwards, this is the perfect cleanser for you. Not that I have preferences, but it just happens that it works well for my skin. Therefore, it just depends on what you like or what works best for you.

Though, it’s primarily recommended for people who have normal to dry skin, although sensitive skin can greatly benefit from it
as well.

Having dry sensitive skin, myself, it works for my skin (and would strongly recommend it).

Product features & benefits

  • The products help effectively remove dirt and makeup without stripping the skin’s natural moisture.
  • With its gentle fragrance-free formula, it contains 3 essential ceramides to lock in moisture and protect the skin by restoring the skin’s protective barrier.
  • In addition, it also contains amino and hyaluronic acids. The latter is a key component for people with dry skin.
  • Powered by MVE technology, it also ensures efficient delivery of ceramides within the skin’s barrier and slow release over time.

It got a bit descriptive here let me now give you my personal opinion about the product.

What I particularly like about the cleanser 🙂

product review Cerave Hydrating Cream Foam to Cleanser

The product works well in cleaning the face. I am however astonished at how well it removes makeup. That’s definitely its golden ticket!

Before using the cleanser, I had trouble removing my makeup and would use wipes that would give me pimples and dry out my skin even further.

I don’t wear makeup every day, but when I do, I have a peace of mind knowing that the cleanser will remove it without a problem.

Even though you will need to apply it at least twice to fully remove your makeup, I can assure you that it leaves no trace of makeup at all.

So yeah, it is recommended if you wear makeup every day. 🙂

I also like the consistency because it’s both a cream cleanser that moisturises the skin and a foaming formula that gives you a refreshing feeling.

To be honest, it’s one of my favourite cleansers, and I’m currently on my fourth bottle or more! I’ve lost count 😀

What to consider:

Using the product personally, I do not believe it delivers quick results and your skin might need some time to adapt to the product. This is not exactly what their advertisement is trying to convey.

Using it consistently for at least two weeks helped my skin become softer and less dry over time.

Moreover, I like the feeling that it leaves on my skin after application. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, hydrated, soft and smooth without feeling stripped.

Though I do not like the smell – it’s quite funny – I know that the product is clean and doesn’t contain harsh chemicals.

In terms of price, I would say it’s relatively reasonable for what it delivers to the skin. Plus it lasts for at least ½ or even two months before purchasing a new one! So, no complaints from me 🙂product review Cerave Hydrating Cream Foam to Cleanser

Pros: what I like about the product

  • Effective in removing makeup
  • Leaves the face fresh and hydrated
  • Contains key ingredients to restore the skin
  • Overall, the best cleansers that I have used to far

Cons: what I don’t like about the product

  • It does not deliver fast results – the skin needs to adapt
  • It smells a bit like chemicals -not a fan of the smell

*How would I rate the product? A 4/5 🙂

As a final word, I hope my first product review has given you enough information to decide whether it is worth investing in and trying.

I want to clarify that while the product has worked for me, I am only speaking based on my own experiences. It might not deliver the results desired.

Although I am not a huge fan of the smell and have noticed that it might take some time for your skin to adjust, I would recommend it for those who are just getting started or even those who wear makeup frequently.

With CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser, you can wash your skin in one step! Its unique blend of gentle ingredients contributes to its effectiveness!
In addition to cleansing the face, it effectively removes make-up, oil, and impurities. All while hydrating and maintaining the skin barrier. Your skin feels instantly fresh, soft, and hydrated. 🙂
