How to shave body hair for dry sensitive skin

The article will briefly discuss the subject of body hair removal. Many would suggest that perhaps this subject concerns more men than women since the ‘hair body’ is more associated with them. The latter has long influenced gender dynamics and perception of appearance and it mainly occupies the social ideas of masculinity. Some however would suggest that removing body hair is something that both men and women should do.

It is not a must but if you want to get rid of the unwanted body hair that we can’t sometimes stand, then you might consider it regardless of gender. Besides, we should analyse whether we should consider doing it and how to shave body hair on dry sensitive skin.

The importance of shaving:

Perhaps one of the most controversial topics around the importance of shaving is either questioning ‘for WHO’ is more important (by ‘who’ I mean gender).

We all know that men and women have different types of body hair growth, and the method differs. body shaving on men

There are many articles out there that would suggest that shaving is more important for men than women.

And that is because they typically tend to have more ingrown hair than us women but there’s always exceptions to the rule. And this could differ from body appearance or even the way you want to portray or present yourself you name it.

Besides, men generally shave differently than women and use different products that best suits them and vice versa.

This could be one of the reasons why the topic has lots of controversies and it’s hard to explain everything in this article alone, but let’s briefly focus on what experts have to say about it.

Surprisingly enough majority of experts and even scientists believe that shaving is an important task to implement for both men and women since:

*It helps get rid of bacteria that are present on the skin.

*It reduces sweat, body odour,

*Helps you get a clear profile and generally improve your appearance, thus helping you feel and look better.

Let’s now briefly look at when we should shave;

Shaving before or while in shower/bath? wet shaving

Many have a lot to say about it. But perhaps the most convincing opinion again is from the experts themselves.

It is believed that wet shaving (shaving while showering), is more convenient, quicker, and comfier.

This is because it helps open the pores and make your hair softer, thus making the process of shaving much easier.

Some, however, would advise to shave before showering. But this method could cause further irritations or cuts since the skin tends to be rougher when it’s dry.

Experts generally suggest that wet shaving is way more beneficial than dry shaving.

I used to shave before showering, but my skin would always irritate afterwards (since I have very dry and sensitive skin).

But ever since I have started shaving while taking a shower, I have seen a drastic change in my skin.

So based on my personal experience, I would highly suggest going for wet shaving. Not only it has been proven by experts to work better for sensitive skin, but you will notice a huge difference. 😉

How to Shave properly? how to shave properly with a razor for dry sensitive skin

According to the American Academy of Dermatologists, they suggested that before even starting you should:

*Wet the skin and hair to help it become softer, (which is why it is advised to shave while showering).

*Next you will need to *gently apply a shaving cream or gel (depending on your preferences).

You should then *shave in gently to the direction where the hair normally grows

to then *rinse off after each swipe of the razor.

Once you are done make sure that your razor is preserved in a dry environment. However, to avoid getting infections is preferable to use a razor only once.

Experts suggest that proper shaving is all it takes to see the true benefits.

And if done properly it can be a pretty much quick pain-free process that could take you less than 10mins to get over and done.

What should you be aware of?

We should note that shaving is not always suitable for sensitive skin types particularly when using certain razors.

Extra sensitive skin can get easily irritated since shaving removes the thin layer of the skin and you are more likely to get exposed to irritation and pimples.

Also, the results of body hair removal usually last for a week and after shaving, the hair often comes faster and drier.

And although it might be tempting, you should avoid shaving too often (normally 3 days a week is enough) since it can cause redness or even dark spots.

This is because the razor usually removes hair on the surface of the skin but not on the roots causing dark spots.

That is why many people opt for different methods such as laser hair removal or even medications to name a few.

You can however still decide to shave your hair body with a razor. But you should be very picky when it comes to choosing the right one. And if used properly it can deliver amazing results!

Let’s now check the most recommended ones;
