Essential Facial Skincare guide for Dry-Sensitive-skin – Simple steps for a Basic Routine

In my previous posts, I was focusing on the best products for dry sensitive skin that experts would recommend. I however believe that it is important to guide people on how to implement them step by step. Don’t you think?

Well, guys in this article we will be looking at the three most essential facial skincare steps for dry sensitive skin. These steps are the basic routine that you should be following to control your skin condition and consequently improve your skin appearance over time.

Skincare is an important step that you should implement among your daily ‘duties’ and it is crucial to be aware of what you should be using as basics.

Many unfortunately still lack the knowledge of what should be used and what are the key products that they should not be skipping. I am here to be as informative as I possibly can. Within this article, we will break down the most important steps that you need to be aware of for a basic skincare regime.

Taking care of your skin is quite personal and most of the time it is not simply a matter of DNA.

And if you are someone that is just getting started or are a completely new beginner or lack the essential knowledge on how to take care of your face, you then need to be aware of these steps.

Please note that although there might be other products to implement depending on skin concerns and conditions these steps (that we will be looking at) are the basic and easy guide to follow in starting to take care of your skin. 🙂

The Basic Skincare Steps

When implementing a skincare routine there are three steps that you should follow, and these are:

IN THE MORNING
  1. Cleanser (to wash/clean the skin from dirt)
  2. Moisturiser (to hydrate the skin)
  3. SPF (sunscreen protection)
AT NIGHT
  1. Cleanser (to clean impurities accumulated during the day)
  2. Moisturiser (to nourish the skin during the night)

1.CLEANSER

First things first you should start with a CLEANSER:

Cleansing is also known as washing the face and is the most essential step of a routine that you need to implement.

Guys a cleanser helps wash out the dirt and impurities that do accumulate on your skin. This is the first step in a skincare routine since not only does it clean the face, but it also functions as an exfoliant (which helps remove dead skin cells).

Wash twice a day, morning and evening, to avoid pores, acne, and dullness.

Rinse your face with water and apply a small amount of gentle cleanser.

I have previously touched on the importance of using a cleanser and for more insights please check out this article here.

2. MOISTURISER

After cleansing the face, the second most important step is to MOISTURISE the skin.

And like cleansing,
It should be applied in the morning and night to help hydrate and nourish the skin.

The key function of a moisturiser is indeed to hydrate and soften the skin by preventing water loss through the layers of skin.

Moisture also helps protect the skin barrier and prevent your skin from developing further skin concerns. In addition, it also helps create a healthy and nice/appealing skin barrier so that it will not be too vulnerable and sensitive to the environment.

As we age the skin naturally loses its ability to retain or keep moisture. Implementing this into your skincare routine is crucial since it will help protect dry skin that shows quicker signs of premature ageing.

This is the one product the experts suggest using for all skin types, let alone people that suffer from dry and sensitive skin.

3.SUNSCREEN (SPF)

The last step should be to use a sun protector, known as SPF to protect the skin against sun damage.

In order to prevent skin damage, an SPF or sunscreen must be applied. Guys this is an extremely important step not to skip!

It is indeed the most crucial skincare product that must be applied to the face in the morning and then applied frequently throughout the day (but of course not at night). Check these articles down below for more insights:

A daily and consistent application of sunscreen will also prevent your skin from developing wrinkles, fine lines, texture imperfections, and pores. It will also protect it from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Furthermore, as explained in this article here there are levels of SPF depending on the amount of protection you need from sun exposure. However, to put it simply, the minimum level required to protect the skin is 30.

Do we always need to follow these steps?

Well technically, yes, and depending on our skin concerns, we should utilize these 3 products as our ‘daily regime’ to help straighten the skin.

However, depending on how well you get to know your skin and what it needs to look flawless/fabulous, we might start to implement other products such as a toner, essence, serum eye cream, face mask or even a prescribed facial medication which can only be advised by a qualified expert like a doctor.

Many experts, however, would advise you to master the basic routine and depending on how your skin is doing to start adding additional products to your routine.

Skincare isn’t a thing that you build overnight but rather it takes time (I can personally agree with that) and it’s perfectly normal!

Guys, it is not about creating perfection, but rather about allowing yourself to notice a change in you!

What can be implemented from time to time?

You can give your skin some love from time to time by using a black soap or a face wash.

According to experts face masks offer highly concentrated treatments that help address specific skin issues.

It is beneficial and it is a way of taking extra care of yourself and giving your skin the extra glow that it needs. You can apply it 2 to 3 times a week. To learn more about face masks, visit these posts here.

The same applies for an African Black soap, which many consider as a cleanser. Indeed, it has been proven that it can cure many skin conditions like acne and it even contains moisturising effects.

It is recommended to use twice a week for people that suffer from dry sensitive skin. Read the article here to find out more.
