I will be reviewing CeraVe’s moisturizing cream for dry sensitive skin in this post. 🙂
Despite being well known, it’s likely that you haven’t heard of CeraVe Moisturizing Cream unless you’ve been to a dermatologist or been recommended it by a friend. You may have heard of the brand for its acne treatments, but moisturizers are so abundant that it’s easy to overlook a truly effective one.
The moisturiser cream has been recommended by most dermatologists and they have a point.
To help with my extremely dry skin, I tested this CeraVe product, which is great for sensitive skin.
*Quick note: You should also remember that what works for one person might not work for another. My advice is purely based on my own experience, and I just want to share my honest opinion to help you all out. I hope you find it helpful.*

How did I come across the product?
Following my successful experience with the CeraVe cleanser (particularly the foam hydrating version, check the review here), I wanted to give the moisturiser a try.
To test whether my skin would not react to it, I first purchased the smaller version (again as a test).
Check out the pic below:
The truth is that my skin reacts very badly to products and finding the right products is a challenge for me. I guess is that most of you are experiencing the same thing! You have my deepest understanding!
You must research the product thoroughly and look for reviews like the one I am providing guys. It’s important!
Even the most highly recommended products that many would swear will work for everyone might not work for you. On the contrary, it might even make your skin worse!
Besides, let’s look at the product features and benefits before giving my opinion about it 🙂

Who is this product for?
Do not give up until you try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream if you have sensitive skin, psoriasis, or extremely dry skin! What a perfect combo for our skin type! Right?!
The formula is specifically designed for sensitive, dry, and irritated skin, including those with eczema.
It is though generally suitable for normal to dry skin.
If you’re looking for a moisturizer that you can use every day, CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a great option.
My experience with the product:
After using the cream for a while (during winter), I liked how moisturizing it was and how long it lasted, even after washing my face.
The issue however was that I did not see a change in my skin. To be honest, at the beginning it started to give me small pimples, particularly on my cheeks. Since I was using Avene my dermatologist recommended before this happened, I kept thinking my acne would go away and that it was a normal reaction.
Long story short, despite the pleasant and relaxing feeling that it left on my skin, I did not see any improvement in my skin after a month of using it. There were only two positives: it hydrated my skin and it lasted for a long time. But that’s about it. There were still small pimples on my forehead and cheeks. It was impossible to get rid of them.
*See pictures below as proof:
Nevertheless, I bought the bigger version and continued to apply it for at least a month without seeing any improvement. I even got more acne!
As I later realized, it was insufficient for treating acne.
It was then that I decided to stop using it on my face and instead use it on my body.
As a result, I find my skin to be soft, hydrated, and smooth after using it, and I notice that it leaves my skin looking better than it did before I used it.
Although the feeling it leaves on the skin is nice, I found it to be too heavy when I used it on my face.
Perhaps it is because of the consistency it has. It is quite a thick cream.

My issue about the cream:
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a popular choice for those seeking a daily moisturizer.
They claim that the cream is fragrance-free, non-irritating, and won’t cause breakouts. I might disagree with the last point.
It did improve the appearance of my dry skin, but it caused some breakouts, as highlighted previously.
Despite its claim to not cause breakouts, it did to some extent and it kinda worsened my acne, if I have to be honest.
The main reason I suggested this moisturiser (here) is that it features active ingredients that are effective for dry, sensitive skin, and it has been recommended by dermatologists.
However, after testing this product, I could not say it wasn’t the best cream for my face, particularly for my acne. However, I did not see the results I expected and had to use it on my body instead. Testing the product on my body turned out to be the right decision and if I had known more about it, I would have done it sooner.
My skin feels nourished and hydrated all day with this product. It’s incredible. My face was a different story, although I have to admit it left a pleasant feeling every time I applied it.
So, would I still recommend the product?
My answer would be yes! Despite not working as well as I thought on my face and my acne, it did work on the rest of my body!
Moreover, I would recommend it more than I wouldn’t because it will moisturize and hydrate your skin all day long. As the weather gets colder, we all need a strong cream that hydrates our skin.
Winter is the best time to use this cream since dry skin becomes more persistent and needs moisture and hydration. Just use it with caution if you have acne! There may be a need for a different treatment for you.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that when it comes to summertime, you have options. Therefore, you might do better with a thin lotion rather than a cream, like the Cerave moisturizing lotion. Or one that contains SPF!
Keep in mind that you have options with this range! This is a huge advantage!

My Rating
What I like about the product 🙂
Effectiveness in keeping your skin hydrated all-day
Contains key ingredients for dry sensitive skin
Hydrates the skin during winter
Effective on the body -an effective body cream
The pleasant feeling that it leaves on the skin
What I do not like about the product 🙁
Might be too heavy for the face
Might cause breakouts
Might not work as expected on your face
Might be too thick for the face
This is why I would rate the product as a 3.9/5
Last but not least, it is generally a really good cream that can help restore the skin while fully hydrating it all day long! Although it didn’t work well on my face, it did wonders for the rest of my body.
My experience is just purely personal, so don’t take my words as final advice based on what you’ve read up to this point. I am only giving you some initial guidance and pointing you in the right direction. I hope! 😀
Again, I found the cream more beneficial to use on my body rather than on my face (perhaps due to my acne). I have to note that there are many people out there who are using it on their faces, and it is working for them (these are based on ratings online).
