3-Step Korean Skincare Routine: minimal skincare routine

Korea is a world leader in the skincare industry and Korean products are huge in the beauty world.

Even though Korean skincare is popular and effective, the issue that many have is that it involves a lot of steps (up to 12 steps) in a routine. Check this article here.

And although it may well be effective, I am sure that not everyone has the time to follow the “famous 10-step Korean skincare routine” every single day. It can be difficult to follow and implement, that is for sure!

This is where the 3 step skincare routine comes into the scene 😉

Guys, it is ok to keep it simple (like I often advocate) if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the incredible skincare products out there. But don’t worry guys the article will go through the 3 essential steps that K beauty implement within their skincare regime 🙂

3- Step Korean Skincare – is it even a thing?

The subject of Korean skincare has been on my mind lately and recently, it has come to light that there is, in fact, a 3-step Korean skincare routine. Yep guys, it is real and implemented by many! So yes, this three-step routine is, of course, a thing. More of it in a bit guys!

Quick facts

As highlighted previously, in terms of skincare products that deliver real results, Korean skincare has become increasingly popular. Several different brands offer a variety of products that fall into a ten-step routine. Although this may seem complicated at first, each step has logic behind it, which is reflected in the results you see on your face.

Adding more steps to your skincare routine will make it more likely for your skin to glow and look youthful. Nevertheless, not everyone needs to follow all 10 steps. Using skincare products that match your skin type is one of the great things about the Korean skincare routine.

For instance, when you have sensitive skin, it can be even harder to feel as if you need to use certain products. For sensitive skin, Korean skincare offers a wide range of products that do not require you to follow numerous steps at all.

Ideally, your skin should be cleansed, moisturised, and protected from the sun. Maintaining healthy, glowing, youthful skin is as simple as following only three steps.

After all basic skincare is the key to good skin. You can get started with these simple three-step routines if you’ve been thinking about trying this skincare routine!

The three steps are as follows:

Step 1 – Double Cleanse

*First cleanser – Oil-based cleanser.

Why is that? To avoid breakouts, start by cleansing your skin with an oil-based cleanser to remove your makeup and purify your skin of other oil-based impurities (SPF, pollution, grime).

You might think that an oil-based cleanser will make your skin oily but it does not!

Your skin won’t get oily if you use an oil-based cleanser! Your skin is protected from bacteria and other pollutants by this double-cleansing method.

*Second cleanser – water-based cleanser

The water-based cleanser also called foaming cleanser, is an essential part of your double cleanse. Water cleanser removes any residue left behind by the oil cleanser, such as sweat and dirt.

Using a cleanser shouldn’t leave your face feeling tight and squeaky clean. There should be no tightness or discomfort, but it should feel clean.

If you ignore these signs, your skin’s natural response will be to produce more oil when it is stripped.

However, for people with dry or even sensitive skin, a foaming formula might not be the best choice (then again this may vary from person to person) since everyone’s skin might react differently. You can also use a ‘cream’, ‘milk’, or ‘hydrating’ cleanser instead of a foaming one if your skin doesn’t tolerate water and foam.

Step 2 – Toner.

The purpose of a toner is to balance the pH level of your skin.

When you cleanse your skin, the pH balance is thrown off. Toner restores the pH level of your skin to its normal 5.5

Toners from Korea are designed to preserve the acid mantle of your skin, draw water into it, and prepare your skin for the following solutions you apply in the following steps. They usually do not contain alcohol like in many western toners.

The best toner if you have dry skin is one that has a hydrating ingredient (e.g. hyaluronic acid).

Step 3 – Moisturise and Sun Protection Factor (SPF)

In some Korean products, moisturizing ingredients are combined with sunscreen.

Whenever you cleanse your face, moisturize to replace the moisture that has been lost. For any skin type, this is an essential product to lock in moisture and protect your layers of products, particularly for dry skin.

Additional 3 Korean steps that you can follow – Basic Skincare

The good news is that it does not end like this. You may be like what?! Yep, Koreans also follow the simplest, most straightforward skincare routine that literally anyone can follow! Even the laziest! Jokes aside, I am sure you are familiar with this one!

You can also use these three steps which act as the basics of a skincare routine.

The key to Korean skincare is to prevent rather than cure. The Korean skincare routine (even if you don’t follow all 10 steps) involves choosing the right products to cleanse, tone, moisturise, protect, and restore your skin. The aim is to help you achieve the best skin you can be. Moisturizing and cleansing are undoubtedly the most important steps.

To be fair, it takes time to figure out your morning and evening routines. It’s okay to use only 3 products that work for you because everyone’s skin is different. There is nothing wrong with finding ten products that work, or you might find more than ten that work.

Getting to know your skin means following the basic steps some days, and there is nothing wrong with that. In the morning, you may simply want to wash with water, and that’s fine.

To conclude,

These foundation of simple, minimal, and basic skincare can then be further customized by adding further steps to suit the needs of your skin, from 3 to 10! It is perfectly fine to stick to the three basic steps and build up from there. From more insights about korean skincare visit Style Story which is all about Korean Skincare!

A little reminder: Always remember to keep it simple at the beginning!
